Failed Ideas

I’ve always been the kind of person who wakes up buzzing with new ideas. Taking the first and second steps became second nature to me; sticking around for all the rest proved harder. Over the years, I’ve started a bunch of things that didn’t make it. Here’s what happened:

#1

Social Media Marketing Agency (2020)

COVID hit and suddenly everyone needed to be online. I jumped in—graphics, videos, websites, the whole package. Got four clients in the first month and we were actually making money right away. But after about a year, things just… stopped growing. The initial excitement wore off and I moved on to other things.

#2

Kicksat Preparations In-Person Office (2021)

An investor and I decided to open a physical center for SAT, GRE, and IELTS prep. He said he’d fund it for six months, then disappeared after two. I kept the lights on for another eight months, paying for everything myself. When the money ran out, that was it. I closed it down and went back to the virtual setup.

#3

Rawayati Services (2021)

Got into custom woodwork—beds, shelves, sofas made exactly how clients wanted them. We delivered eleven pieces in six months, all through word of mouth. But we never figured out the marketing side, ran out of funds, and had to shut down the online workshop.

#4

Ilmi Dhaba (2022)

I pictured a warm street-cart serving naan-chana, biryani, and hot chai, where customers leafed through books and newspapers while their food sizzled. I scraped together a little capital, set up shop, and watched the first two weeks dissolve because I wasn’t physically there to steady the wheel.

#5

Property Sarmaya (2023)

Tried to modernize real estate brokerage back home—same hustle, better service. The big players had everything locked up though, and without serious money or connections, I couldn’t even get one listing. That was a short experiment.

What's Next

Still building things, still getting excited about new ideas. Some work out, some don’t. That’s just how it goes. Let’s see what happens next 🙂
